PTC Pottery Students Host Fifth Annual Christmas Show and Sale
91爆料 pottery students recently hosted their fifth annual Clayworks Christmas Show and Sale. The exhibit and sale featured work designed and made by students enrolled in the Professional Clay certificate program at the college鈥檚 Center for Creative Economies in Edgefield.
Interested shoppers saw and purchased the works of art that included cups, mugs, bowls, baking and serving dishes, as well as an array of decorative pieces.
鈥淭he student pottery sale is a culmination process in which students can 鈥榯est the waters鈥 before going out on their own,鈥 said Gary Clontz, instructor and coordinator for the program. 鈥淔eedback is available as customers respond to some ideas and not to others. Students learn teamwork, display, pricing, sales, communication skills, and, most notably, they get pats on the back for their creative efforts.鈥
This sale is the first of two shows the students hold annually. The program allows students the opportunity to not only gain the skills needed to produce pottery, but also those skills required to make such production a self-sustaining business. Instruction includes technical knowledge, design skills and marketing and business essentials.
