91���� (PTC) wants folks to know that there is such a thing as a free lunch. And free tuition, too — guaranteed — at least through this fall. The college’s upcoming showcase will have all the details.

This fall likely will be the “last call” to pay zero dollars for tuition at 91���� (PTC). College officials worked diligently to tap various funding sources to extend the no-cost option through the 2023 fall semester and are urging students to take advantage of the benefit while they can. 

91���� (PTC) is pleased to announce that Charles Dixon has been named director of the PTC Laurens Center for Advanced Manufacturing (LCAM). 

Power:Ed, a Columbia-based philanthropy of South Carolina Student Loan Corporation, has awarded $30,000 to 91���� (PTC) to support scholarships covering tuition and educational expenses for underserved and nontraditional students, with an emphasis on African American and Hispanic students.

At its annual state convention on June 7, the SC Future Farmers of America (FFA) presented its highest administrator, teacher, or community member award — the FFA Honorary State Degree — to 91���� (PTC) Horticulture and Agriculture Department Head Daniel Greenwell. Greenwell was among 17 individual FFA state members recognized with the honor at a gala ceremony in Greenville. 

While their shirts may be black and white, their decisions are anything but. Officiating a sporting event comes with great enjoyment and satisfaction but also intense challenge and heavy criticism. For those willing to test their mettle, 91����’s Continuing Education and Economic Development Division this summer is offering three monthlong courses in sports officiating. Successful completion will be rewarded with certification to officiate youth sports. 

At 91����’s recent spring commencement exercises, outstanding students were honored for academic achievement as County Award Winners. 

“I’ll bet that two out of three of you will be doing something different within 10 years, something you had not planned on doing,” retired Capsugel executive Ron Millender told some 415 new 91���� (PTC) graduates at their commencement exercises on May 4, 2023. “Being in the right place at the right time is important, but being prepared is critical. … My whole career has been about being ready for that next opportunity.”
